Mieke’s Story

At a very young age, Mieke was diagnosed with multiple cardiac and pulmonary conditions, as well as an immune deficiency disease. By just 9 years old, she already needed a pacemaker to help regulate her heart. Although she is not on full-time oxygen, Mieke relies on oxygen support during cardiac arrhythmia episodes to stay safe.

Over the years, her medical costs have grown significantly, placing a heavy burden on her family. Through incredible determination, they previously hosted a golf day to raise funds for a portable oxygen concentrator—an essential lifeline Mieke uses when traveling to her doctors and attending school. Sadly, the unit was damaged beyond affordable repair.

After seeing the family’s story on Facebook, Ecomed, alongside Hot FM, stepped in with overwhelming generosity. They sponsored Mieke with a brand-new portable oxygen concentrator, giving her the freedom to enjoy daily activities and simply be a child.
